So I seemed to have dropped off the grid for a while, I've been a little busy. My jewellery studio is almost good to go, other than the torch I need, as soon as I can afford to insure it. My insurance company wants to charge me $500-$1000 a year, so we'll see how that goes
My dog has been driving me nuts and developed a number of bad habits like jumping and biting much to my dismay. We bought a partial choke chain, which seems to be getting her attention. I think she's turned me into a cat person. I miss my cats!!
I've been trying to do a bit of jewellery making, my boss loaned me her kiln so I should be able to start enameling again sometime soon.
Otherwise here's the latest of the trying to teach myself painter WIP. I was thinking of using her for my Christmas cards, but I have another idea I really like too so we'll see where my ideas take me :)

Well lots of things going on lately. It's been busy.
I had a one day trial run doing some goldsmithing,,,,,wow do I ever need to be retrained if I want a goldsmithing job. But I ended up accepting a job designing jewellery, so we'll see how all of that goes, I start tomorrow.
I think I may actually almost have the house unpacked, there one box in the bedroom, and some odds and ends in the spare room. I'm not including the garage in this unpacking state because I need to figure out how I'm organizing the workspace out there and such. We ordered a couch this week so soon I will have a couch again, we've been couch-less for about a year now after the cats trashed the last one and we were using an army cot as a substitute, which wasn't the greatest solution.
Yesterday we finally fixed the section of fence that was blown down during the windstorms in July. After which I immediately started bugging Neil about getting a dog. His original answer was next weekend, but I ended up talking him into going to the Humane Society, since I'd been combing their website for months. We found one we liked but it was to late yesterday to do all the paperwork. So I went back today and adopted her.
She is a 2 year old shepard cross. She looks like a shepard other than in coloring, which looks like a Rottweiler. She is very good natured though. Neil and I decided to keep the name the shelter gave her, Grace. And it just goes to show you the way different minds think. He was thinking nice name, Grace Kelly, where as I immediately jumped to Grace O'Malley, the 16 century pirate queen of ireland.
So really it's been a good week, I'll try and post some house and puppy photos soon.
O and yesterday my eye started doing this weird blood vessel thing where a part of my eye looks bloody....not sure why, but I wonder how long it will take to go away.
And I've lost about 10lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks

SO apparently I have no idea how to properly stretch watercolour paper.
I watched a bunch of tutorials, bought some supplies, and it seemed to have stretched pretty well. Until I started painting on it!!!!
I put a wash on for the sky and it is buckling everywhere....it's going to drive me crazy.
Any suggestions??

Well I want to say there's been a lot going on right now, but there really hasn't been.
I'm still jobless so I went up to Slave Lake for a few days a few weeks ago to give my mom a hand at the store. We spent the long weekend out with Neil's family, which wasn't bad other than the big storm that rolled through on Sunday Night.
I haven't been doing as much drawing as I would like, in the midst of a search for some reference photos, and of course I can't seem to quite find what I'm looking for. I've also been doing some crocheting of baby blankets as I have 3 cousins who are pregnant, so that's kept me a little busy. I've also been designing a bunch of jewellery, so Neil and I have to clear out the garage so I can build a bench and get going in there making some stuff, seeing as how I had way more silver than I though I had when I cleaned out my bench at school.
On Wednesday, my mom, my sister and I signed up for the Herbal Magic weight loos program, so far in 2 days I've lost 3 lbs, but I'm pretty sure that's just water weight at this point. My goal is to lose 75lbs by the end of May, it's not going to be easy, but I need to lose all this weight I've gained the last few years.
Today was beautiful out!! so after deiling with some of the garage, I was out at the picnic table eating lunch and I managed to hav a wasp sting me on the bottom of my foot, not on the heel or anywhere with a bit of thick skin, but right behind the ball of my foot. Wow did that ever hurt!!!! I actually cried, breaking my foot didn't even hurt that bad!! I managed to get the swelling to go down, but it hurts to walk, I really hope I can walk properly tomorrow, Neil and I had plans to go to the zoo or Ft Edmonton or something as on Monday we will have been together years.
Enought rambling from me....I'm off in search of reference photos that I can use.

So I've been busy looking for jobs, and painting. The painting was going really well, I had the skin tone and nice and even, looked good....until I started painting in the hair, then I realized that the skin tone is totally the wrong colour. which means a lot more painting over.....again!! So I'm taking a break from paint at the moment, and trying to turn the office into a workable space that isn't a disaster.
In the mean time I have more ideas running through my head than I have time to even sketch out and Neil and I are trying to devise a makeshift bench for my jewellery work since I've been doing some designing again.....I definatley need to get some work together so I can do the Christmas Craft shows.
So Much to do, So little time
Yay!!!!! interview tomorrow! Wish me luck!

My house is finally starting to look like a home!!
I finally finished staining my desk and made my brother help me haul it in from the garage, since Neil's currently unalble to walk. Got the new support pieces out in for the tilting feature. Now I just have to clean all my art supplies out of the spare room and into my art space so my sister has a room when she comes to live with us next month.
If all goes well I will have everything put away by Saturday, and then I can take a few pictures so people can see my place. My only problem is I have too many blank walls. I have lots of art to put up, but a ton of it I still need to have framed, and some of it I really don't want to just slap in an IKEA frame, so we'll see how it goes.
Back to cleaning so my house at least looks presentable for my housewarming this weekend.

I planned to get a bunch of things done around the house today, none of which have happened yet at this point.
Neil went for a walk to Tim Horton's for coffee and sprained his ankle so I had to drive him to the medi-centre/emergency. we were lucky it was slow there so it only took an hour and a half. He is now walking around with a florescent Pink cast on his leg.
So hopefully I will get some house cleaning done later, seeing as how my house warming is on Saturday.
Anyway, off to hang out with my brother and go see GI Joe.

I finished transferring the image that I was working on to canvas today, and started painting.
It felt so nice! The past two months I have been lacking in creativity, just drained, but it seems like that's all gone with resigning from my last job. Digging out the acrylics was great, I haven't worked with them in a while, mostly because they were all dried out and I did some restocking a few months ago.
I forgot how much I enjoyed acrylics.
Meanwhile, Neil is watching my paint on the canvas that is currently taped to the wall in the dining room and worrying the paint was going to soak through to the wall. LOL!!
So hopefully the job situation will get sorted out tomorrow, but meanwhile I'm excited to be painting........now I just need to figure out how to get it scanned afterwords......it's 46x31" so we'll see how that goes. Lots to do on it yet before I get to that point, but keep your eyes open for new art coming your way.

So I know I dropped off the planet for a bit. I had a job that was sucking the life out of me so I quit and then Neil and I went on vacation, so hopefully there will be more production of work in the near future.
( Vacation )So the temperatures in the Eugene area were recordbreaking. Somewhere around 108F (so about 38C) I was really hot at Faerieworlds
( Faerieworlds )Now I'm off to job hunting.........hopefully something turns up soon or I'll be temping or driving up to Slave Lake to work at my parents grocery store.........which I don't particularly want to do

So I have been somewhat absent from blogging lately. It's been a crazy month. The move went well, I got the office/studio painted before we put in furniture and I finally have the kitchen, living room and dining area all organized. Which still leave much to be desired for the bedrooms and studio in terms of unpacking and organizing.
I'm hoping to have majority of it dealt with by the end of the week so that Neil and I can move my desk into the studio so I can get back to making art. I'm really missing doing stuff right now, but between the new job and unpacking it kind of gotten pushed to the back burner.
Otherwise, I got my garden planted and everything is starting to pop up. The yard is a bit of a mess, I don't think the previous owners did much other than plant trees and perennials because I have a lot of work to do with the grass, and the yard as a whole...but one thing at a time.

So, I'm moved into the new house, and still unpacking and job hunting.
I love the new place. I'll post photos and start commenting on everyone's journals again, as soon as I get internet set up.
At least it's not snowing today like it was yesterday.....yuck.
Oh well, off to buy a computer desk.

What is wrong with people??
I was supposed to get possession of my house this Friday, I lined up all the utilities, the truck to move stuff, everything. Now today I found out that The other peoples lawyer is messing around, didn't get our lawyer the information we needed, and now I don't get to move this weekend.
I am so mad, I have to call and change all the utilities dates, because I am not paying for a house that isn't mine, and now we probably have to wait another week (we think, don't know for sure) before we can move.
I am so mad!
On top of this, job searching in one city while living in another is not easy. Like I don't already have enough to deal with.

Well I'm still in the process of packing, but it's going. We get the house on Friday and I am so excited.
Of course the first thing I'm doing is painting the den/office/studio whatever it is. Neil says he has no opinion on the colour at all and I can do whatever I want.......Silly Boy, his only condition is that he doesn't want to do any of the painting, at all. I've already roped my sister and a few of her friends into helping. Should be fun.
Anyway, back to packing, I already wasted 2 hours changing billing addresses.

I have so much packing to do, 13 days to go until I get possession of the house.
I forgot how exhausting packing is, I actually managed to stay in the same place for the last few years after having moved once a year for about 6 years. How did I accumulate so much stuff??
Needless to say I probably won't be arting much in the next 2 weeks
Well, back to packing, sorting and figuring what to donate.

Why is it snowing again?????
Well.....2 days left of school. YAY!!!!!
I'm ready to be finished. I'm putting up my final grad show today. I'm still so in love with the enamel pieces. They turned out fantastic!!!

I'm currently finishing up some enamel mermaids. I'll post them as soon as I finish and take some photos.
Lots of ideas for new projects too so stay tuned.
Otherwise, the countdown is on to the new house. I'm so excited and I can't wait to move in.

Well, It's been busy, busy, busy here. I finally figured out the basics of Poser after I found a training video at lynda.com (yay for the free trial I got from somewhere), so my latest enamels are set to go.
I started a painting on Friday, which so far is looking good, so Hopefully I'll have time to finish it sometime soon.
I went home to Slave Lake over the weekend. My parents house is coming a long great, though one of my cats decided it would be fun to hide in the cold air return vent.......at least he was able to get out. Signed mortgage papers at the bank, one month to go to possession, I am so excited to get out of Calgary, so it's back up to Edmonton for me, where it's a little less crazy.
Otherwise, I'm finishing up my artist statement and CV for the BOG award I was nominated for.
Oh and good news, my photos are in so I will post them soon.

Well after my whole lack of creativity thing this morning, I'm starting to get some inspiration back.
I went to Chapters and spent an hour wandering and looking at books, I ended up spending $80, but now I have a bunch of reference material. And, well I love books.
I received the copy of Poser I bought and I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone know some sites with good tutorials?
I'm thinking for my next set of jewellery that I'm going to make some elemental goddesses, earth, air, fire, water, as well as celestial sun, moon stars, as long as time allows me to complete them.
Well back to sketching.
